The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has announced the successful signing of a Project Agreement with Adani Energy Solutions Ltd undertaken on the 9th of Oct 2024.
This deal will now see to it that Adani Energy Solutions Ltd raises all the funding to the tune of Kes 95.68 billion in form of debt & equity that will be repaid over the 30-year period of the project agreement.
This deal will now see Adani undertake specific power grid costructions which will include:
400kV (Double-Circuit) Gilgil-Thika-Malaa-Konza Line ·
220kV Rongai-Keringet-Chemosit Line ·
132kV Menengai-Ol Kalou-Rumuruti Line ·
400/220kV Substation at Lessos ·
132/33kV Substation at Thurdibuoro
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi in a statement stated that the above mentioned projects are in line with the government’s plan to expand access to electricity to the country, minimise transmissions losses and address the power blackouts.
