Two accountants working with the procurement department in the Kiambu County government are on the spot after it emerged that they paid about Sh 361 million to 18 proxy companies.
The two who are notorious in corruption Catherine Nyambura Mwangi and Ann Waithera Munyua are known to be so corrupt that they have companies which they register to siphon public coffers with.
The money is said to have been paid between 2022/23 and 2020/21 financial years.As we speak activists are calling for their immediate resignation or they file a petition in court seeking their sacking by the county going.
“These two are very corrupt. They run shots in Kiambu. They’re so corrupt that they try to silence anyone who questions their shoddy deals,” said an insider.
Currently, the matter is said to be with EACC where the two are currently being probed.This comes even after Kiambu County governor Kimani Wamatangi said that he will not allow anyone to steal public money for their own gain.
Wamatangi has vowed to crack the whip and ensure Kiambu retains it’s glory.”This Kiambu will be great again. No one will steal public money anymore. We will do everything human possible to deal with corrupt individuals,” said Wamatangi.
Recently former Governor Ferdinand Waititu was jailed together with top county officials for stealing more than 250 million.
