The Council of Governors (CoG) has announced its new leadership team, with Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi being named Chair after a successful event today at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. The new leadership will be at the helm of CoG for the next two years.

The elected leaders step into this pivotal role during a critical period for county governments, which are grappling with pressing challenges such as healthcare and resource mobilization while striving for better coordination between national and county administrations.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has been appointed Vice Chair and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang will serve as Chief Whip. Together, they aim to advance the CoG’s agenda and ensure that counties receive the necessary support and resources to bolster Kenya’s devolution initiatives.
