With the current political shift in the country, those who once depended on the late Raila Odinga’s name to gain relevance, whether by supporting or opposing him, are now making noise just to seem significant again.
We’re now seeing it with Gen Z’s maandamano opportunist, Kasmuel McOure, calling for ODM Secretary General, Senator Edwin Sifuna, to resign. His reason? That Sifuna isn’t part of the party faction cozying up to the rogue regime, and is a firm critic, while Kasmuel’s masters are already comfortably in bed with it.
Who does Kasmuel think he is to lecture the Secretary General of a party he has barely belonged to for a year? Isn’t this the same government that he protested against, the same one now parading him from one interview to another to attack Sifuna? What changed? Or did he, like many of our politicians, stop thinking the moment his stomach became full and turn into a nincompoop?
It’s quite likely that the young man isn’t even speaking for himself. He’s someone’s project in the brewing supremacy battles at Chungwa House. For now, he’s enjoying his moment, hopping from one media interview to the next, but once the dust settles, he’ll fade back into the same oblivion where his failed music career lies.
Let’s not forget: the late Prime Minister was always open to criticism within ODM. He never called for Sifuna’s resignation, even when the Senator firmly opposed the so-called “broad-based government.”
While addressing mourners during the funeral of the late Kasipul MP Charles Were in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, on May 9, 2025, Raila made it clear:
“The spokesman of the party is the Secretary General. When Sifuna speaks, he speaks on behalf of the party but then saa zingine apana kuwa chungu sana (sometimes do not be too harsh),” he stated.
This came after Sifuna had strongly criticized the broad-based government, prompting backlash from ODM members benefitting from the arrangement.
If the Enigma himself affirmed Sifuna’s authority in the party, then who is this one
