A section of members of Parliament from the Mt. Kenya region who had vehemently defended the ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have now turned against him and supported the installation of Kindiki.

The MPs Wakili Edward Muriu of Gatanga, Mary Wamaua of Maragua, Joseph Munyoro of Kigumo, Chege Njuguna of Kandara and Peter Kihungi of Kangema have all been vocal against the impeachment of Gachagua.

But barely 24 hours after the Senate vote upheld the impeachment of Gachagua. The MPs quickly jumped ship and voted in favor of the approval of Kithure Kindiki who is expected to be sworn in on Saturday at the Uhuru Gardens.

According to the communication from Speaker Moses Wetangula, in the vote, taken manually, 236 MPs voted in favour of the motion, there were nil abstentions and nil oppositions.

This action by the pro-Gachagua MPs has left many astounded with questions arising as to whether their earlier support for the ousted DP, was only geared towards hoodwinking the masses to believe they were gunning for the interests of the Mt. Kenya region.

Whether or not their decision to abandon Gachagua in the final minute will result in backlash from the ground remains to be seen.
