  • Three Men Dubbed ‘The Kitengela 3’ Went Missing About A Month Ago
  • Two Were Brothers; Jamil Longton and Aslam Longton
  • The Third is Bob Njagi
  • Convict Masengeli Was Ordered In Court To Explain Their Whereabouts, He Failed To Do So 7 Times

In what now appears to be Convict Masengeli’s rush to save his freedom status, the three abducted men that were mentioned in his case have miraculously appeared on the day he is supposed to find out his fate.

Taking to her X handles, Law Society of Kenya’s President Faith Adhiambo confirmed that the three men were now safe and sound. The two brothers Aslam and Jamil gave their account of events, narrating how they had been dumped at Gachie in Kiambu County

“We were released in the wee hours of Friday morning and left in a thicket in the Gachie area. We walked on foot to a nearby estate, where we charged our phones and communicated with family members telling them that we were alive and free.” Said a visibly traumatized Jamil.

His brother Aslam standing next to him, was equally lost for words and struggled to conjure up a statement. He opted to thank Kenyans online for their unrelenting push for their release;

“I have Kenyans to thank for our release.” Added Aslam

‘The Kitengela 3’ have undoubtedly been through their worst. From the videos seen by RTC News, the once sharp and well-groomed Longton brothers looked browbeaten, their beards outgrown and their sad faces told a tale of their suffering at the hands of their abductors.

Another man who also fell victim to the vicious cycle of unlawful abductions by the police is Bob Njagi. By yesterday evening, Kenyans conversing on an X Space had come to the premature conclusion that Njagi had lost his life in the process.

But family statements reaching the RTC News desk indicate that Mr. Njagi found himself at Tigoni Police Station, Limuru, Kiambu County at around 1 AM on Friday.

‘To family, friends and every Kenyan that has continued to pray for me, I wish to confirm that I am well and with my family. It is now time to quiet the noise, be grateful for life and for everyone to reflect on why Kenya matters.” Read Mr. Njagi’s message.

New Police Boss Douglas Kanja Takes Oath Of Office

The National Police Units have vehemently denied having a hand in the abduction of the ‘Kitengela 3’. Yesterday newly appointed Police Boss Douglas Kanja denied any knowledge of the 3 men.

“I have just assumed office, what I have gotten from our officers is we don’t have the ‘Kitengela 3’. A report was made and we have an active investigation over the same.” Said Mr. Kanja

“We have received reports that several people have been abducted including the so-called ‘Kitengela 3’. The Kenya Police do not do abduction.” Added DCI Boss Amin

But amidst these denials, some of the videos captured by Kenyans during the abductions suggest otherwise.

Bob Njagi’s violent abduction was caught on tape. Men believed to be police officers in masks hurled him out of a Public Transport Vehicle about a month ago and he has never been seen until today.

Jamil Longton, whose 8 month expectant wife even penned to the president, a letter pleading for their release, was abducted in Kajiado alongside his brother Aslam by armed men about a month ago

It is however not co-incidental that just on the fateful day when Convict Gilbert Masengeli is supposed to appear in court to avoid his six-month prison sentence, the ‘Kitengela 3’ miraculously appear.

Masengeli had been required to appear in court to explain the whereabouts of the ‘Kitengela 3’, but he absconded every summon, leading to his prison sentence for contempt of court. Masengeli is slated to appear in court this Friday, the last day in which he can plead for his freedom or serve his six months behind bars.

Data from the Kenyan National Commission on Human Rights points to a staggering number of 66 cases of disappearances. A total of 37 people have not been since June 25, the day Kenyans invaded Parliament, while 100, just like in the case of the ‘Kitengela 3’, have been found alive.

Was the police in cognisance of the abduction of the ‘Kitengela 3’? And is their sudden release connected to Masengeli’s fateful day in court?
