They said marriage is drama. Smollo and Boera Bisieri said, “Cool, let’s sell tickets for it.”

After tying the knot in April 2023, Kenya’s freshest power couple has decided to do the unthinkable: turn their own love story into a two-hander stage play titled The Vows and The Vices. Yes, husband and wife starring side by side, airing their love, lies, and late-night arguments live at the Kenya National Theatre. Brave? Reckless? Genius? Probably all three.

“We’re scared stiff,” Boera laughs, “but also ridiculously excited. It’s just the two of us on stage. No one to hide behind. If he forgets a line, I’m glaring at him as his wife and his co-star.”

Smollo chimes in: “Marriage teaches you teamwork, but this… this is another level. It’s literally us against the scriptwriters.”

And who are those wicked masterminds? None other than Ted Munene and Manuel Chindia, the pens behind Kamum and A Nurse Toto Ssn3. These two aren’t here to deliver fairy tales; they’re serving a cocktail of happy-ish, sad-ish, and scar-ish. In other words: buckle up.

At the helm of this experiment in love and theatre is the one-and-only Ben Tekee, director, actor (Kamum, Njoro Wa Uber), and now part-time therapist for a couple brave enough to put their hearts on the line, literally. “Aki nyinyi,” Tekee confessed, “tears in my eyes. This story is too beautiful to stay untold.”

Advance tickets go for KES 1,500, Gate tickets will sell at KES 2,000, while couple tickets have been set at KES 2,000. All these amounts are payable through Paybill Number 522522, Account number: 1341234061.

So what can you expect on stage? Think romance with a side of chaos. Think laughter followed by silence so heavy you could hear a pin drop. Think about watching a couple relive the raw, tender, and sometimes terrifying beats of their real relationship.

And let’s not forget, these two aren’t strangers to the screen. Smollo (aka Josiah from Kamum) has graced Shuga Mashariki, Njoro Wa Uber, and Kware. Offstage, he’s a lawyer and CEO of Andymaxe Entertainment, the production house behind this show, dedicated to nurturing Kenya’s next generation of performers.

Boera? You’ve seen her in Tahidi High (yes, still going strong), as Zari on DStv, and even in Njoro Wa Uber. Beyond acting, she’s the force behind Black Motion Art, a nonprofit amplifying stage productions in Kenya, and she works as a PR strategist. In short: she knows how to work a stage and a room.

But here’s the kicker: on November 26th, 2025, at the Kenya National Theatre, they won’t be playing characters. They’ll be playing themselves. And that’s what makes this a once-in-a-lifetime show.

One night. One stage. One marriage laid bare.

Will it be a happily-ever-after? Or will the writers pull the rug out from under them? Only one way to find out.
