The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has officially released the 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results, urging schools to log into the CBA portal to access learner-specific reports.

“The 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) reports are ready and have been uploaded on the CBA portal, http://cba.knec.ac.ke,” KNEC shared in a statement on its official X page.

“Schools that presented candidates for the assessment are advised to log into the portal and access the learner-specific reports. Congratulations to all the 2024 KPSEA candidates.”

The KPSEA, conducted between October 28 and November 1, saw 1,303,913 Grade 6 students across 35,573 centers nationwide take part in the assessment.

It covered subjects including Mathematics, English, Integrated Science, Kiswahili, Creative Arts, and Social Studies.

KNEC emphasized that the KPSEA is a key component of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), which focuses on assessing students’ understanding and ability to apply their skills rather than ranking them.

The results from this assessment will account for 20% of the final grade, with a further 20% derived from school-based assessments in Grades 7 and 8.

The remaining 60% will come from a final summative evaluation at the end of Grade 9.

With the release of the KPSEA results, all 1,303,913 candidates will transition to Grade 9, which will still be conducted within their respective primary schools.

This marks an important milestone in the ongoing education reforms under the CBC system, which replaces the traditional 8-4-4 structure.

Grade 9 will be the final year of Junior School before students advance to Senior School in 2026.

At that stage, learners will choose from three core career pathways: Arts and Sports Science, Social Sciences, or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Within Arts and Sports Science, there are specialized tracks such as Music, Dance, Theatre and Film, and Fine Arts, as well as Sports Science, which includes Recreation and Physical Education.

Senior School will offer a three-year study period for Grades 10, 11, and 12, culminating in a focus on specialized career development in one of the three core learning areas.

The shift to this new educational framework is designed to offer more tailored learning opportunities for students as they transition from junior to senior levels, ultimately guiding them toward a more defined career path.
